Netflix is coming to comcast cable boxes
later this year recode reports the two
sides reached an agreement to
incorporate Netflix with an app that
will be present on Comcast x1 platform
now netflix has deals with apple Roku
google's chromecast and is embedded in
Smart TVs but this would finally bring
it directly onto your cable box now this
is a huge deal between the two companies
moving forward after having a
contentious relationship in the past now
in 2012 Netflix accused Comcast of
violating net neutrality principles by
favouring its own web video service over
others like Netflix HBO and Hulu when it
came to data usage they later struck a
deal in 2014 to clear the bottleneck of
slowing Netflix video streams for the
cable companies broadband customers now
netflix accounts for more than thirty
seven percent of peak internet traffic
in North America more than doubling
YouTube and has now found the number one
cable partner in the u.s. Comcast can
finally tout being more open to
competing services instead of keeping
everyone closed off from its x1 platform
something that should have happened four
years ago I'm Brian tonga that your news
bite
