Gmail is getting a facelift Google is
giving the email service its first major
update in years and here's what to look
out for you'll now be able to click and
preview attachments without opening the
entire email thread hovering over a
message also gives you options like
archiving or snoozing it with a timer
and confidential mode lets you set
expiration dates for messages you can
also prompt for an SMS passcode for an
extra layer of authentication feel
sensitive emails once the timer expires
the message disappears but artificial
intelligence is behind some of the
biggest changes including nudging it's
bad news for procrastinators as Gmail
will bug you to respond to messages but
it's good news for the lazy because
smart reply lets you click to send a
short automated reply you might already
use this feature if you access Gmail on
mobile ai will also help you unsubscribe
from pesky mailing lists if you don't
actually read the messages and turning
on high priority notifications means
you'll only get pinged when an important
message comes through finally you'll
also see a new side panel that has your
calendar tasks and more these new
features are coming to G suite users
once your admin turns it on but if
you're a personal gmail user go to
settings and select try new Gmail with
some of the features like confidential
mode appearing over the next few weeks
