Vitamix has released a new line of blenders called the ascent line which can tell which containers are you using for your smoothie or your big midterm margaritas here's how it works the blender uses near-field communication or NFC which is a type of wireless connectivity to essentially talk to the bottom of your container to tell if you're using a 64 ounce picture or just an 8 ounce tiny baby food jars serving it's important for your blender to know what size container you're using so I can know how strong of a speed it needs to blend or how long it needs to blend later this year Vitamix plans to launch some Bluetooth connectivity that would allow you to connect your blender to an app and to a perfect blend scale which is a connected smart scale that lets you know exactly how to make your favorite smoothie or drink or any other food you want to do in your blender now this technology doesn't come cheap these vitamix ascent blenders start at four hundred and seventy dollars but it's interesting to see how they'll connect to the rest of the smart kitchen
