2016-05-25
rumours about the new Xbox are in overdrive as we get closer to the e3 expo according to anonymous sources Microsoft is releasing a smaller and cheaper xbox later this year with a two terabyte hard drive but wait there's more a new Xbox console codenamed Scorpio is supposedly coming in 2017 expect a more powerful GPU 4k capability and the possibility of oculus rift support that's not a big shop considering the oculus headset ships with an Xbox one controller and reports say that Microsoft is further pursuing a partnership with the rift maker it also provides more of an indication that the worlds of xbox and windows are colliding this is all part of a strategy supposedly called project helix that will bring xbox and pc closer together and we've already seen new titles like Halo Wars to announce for both platforms not to mention the recent simultaneous day 1 release of quantum break the room has also come on top of speculation that the console release cycle is getting a shake up instead of new hardware every four or five years Microsoft may roll out smaller incremental updates more frequently sony has all but confirmed the ps4 will be getting a similar treatment with the step-up neo console being leaked last month xbox chief Phil Spencer seemed to add fuel to that fire earlier this year by saying that he'd like to see consoles evolve more like pcs will be waiting to hear what Scorpio has in store for us when Microsoft's e3 press conference kicks off on the 13th of June
