hey there I'm Josh McElveen with CNET
and this is a look at the nikon coolpix
s 9500 it's nikon's top compact magazine
for 2013 in it you get a 22 X zoom lens
that goes from 25 millimeters to 550
millimeters which is quite the range for
something you can slip in a pocket and
weighs about 7 ounces its other key
specs include an 18 megapixel BSI CMOS
sensor and a 3 inch OLED screen which
looks great but I still found it
difficult to see in bright conditions
despite its good viewing angles it also
has built-in GPS for geo-tagging and
Wi-Fi so you can grab your shots from
the camera on the go or even control the
camera with an Android or iOS device
like past versions of this camera it's
shooting options are mostly automatic so
if you want things like aperture and
shutter speed control this isn't your
camera otherwise it has plenty of things
to experiment with before and after you
shoot picture quality is good - very
good depending on how much light you
have and the focal length you are using
quality drops off above ISO 400 and
since it's a slow lens at both ends
you'll want to use it mainly outdoors
with good lighting especially when
zoomed in shooting performance is good
though the autofocus can be finicky in
low light and again when zoomed in
regardless it's a good choice if you're
looking for a lung zoom camera at a good
price for automatic snapshots that you
can easily shoot and share I'm Josh
Coleman and that's the Nikon Coolpix s
9500
