Nintendo Switch update 4.0 adds video capture (CNET News)
2017-10-19
the Nintendo switch just leveled up
Nintendo's game console has a new
firmware update that brings a few new
perks including support for video
capture that means players can record
30-second video clips of their gameplay
by just holding down the capture button
previously that only took screenshots
but holding the capture button will
record the previous 30 seconds of
gameplay save it to your album and then
you can edit and share it to social
media now only a few games will let you
save video but Nintendo says support for
many more will be added in the future
this update comes just a week before the
launch of Nintendo's next big game Super
Mario Odyssey it's a bizarre 3d
adventure where mario has a magic hat
that lets them control different things
like dinosaurs moments like that would
make for good shareable video clips the
switch update 4.0 also lets you transfer
data to another switch console if say
one user wants to move all their saved
games and settings to a new machine the
update has a handful of other small
tweaks like stability improvements news
feed design changes and the ability to
pre-purchase and preload some games from
the Nintendo eShop I'm Bridget Carey you
can take a deeper dive into the switch
