I don't know why this thing exists the hang on I know I smoke detectors exists but specifically I don't know why roost made the roof smart smoke detector I had high hopes for this thing this is the company behind the roof smart battery which I really liked and I thought the smoke detector would up their game and compete with nest but it doesn't this roost costs 80 bucks into text smoke fire carbon monoxide natural gas there's also a sixty-dollar version of the same thing that just does smoke and fire both of them are hard wired with a battery backup but even though this is called a smart smoke detector literally nothing smart about the smoke detector itself all of the smarts come from the battery so if you have a dumb smoke detector you give you everything this guy can do just by buying that $35 roost 94 so if you need a replacement detector this is a fine bye it worked well in our tests it's just not as smart as the nest protect and not as affordable as the roof smart battery on its own
