Oomi's smart-home vision takes shape around its Cube

2015-01-07
hi I'm Andrew gebhard I'm here at CES on the show floor taking a look at the only cute the only cube is a Wi-Fi security camera it has motion detection so it'll pick up when something happens it'll record that and send that to you but in addition to that it can also act as a smart home hub because it receives a z-wave signal so anything else in your smart home can get connected to the cloud through this the security camera functionality looks cool it comes with its own lens cap there so if you want a little extra privacy you can get it it has night vision it has audio but the coolest aspect of this is that not only can it watch out but it can act sort of as that central piece of your smart home movies coming out with a whole bunch of products to go with this line they've got a smart plug so anything you plug in you can control via an app they have an Umi air sensor to help you keep pollutants down they even have an Umi touch which will go along with the ubi cube which helps you set up the whole system just with a touch tap NFC sensor it's kind of a cool approach and their big thing is aiming for simplicity in the smart home getting things set up nice and quickly so that all of these pieces can be connected and be working together I'm excited to see what the only cube can do in terms of interoperability having z-wave and having zigbee is a nice step forward and hopefully the security camera functions well and I'll look forward to playing around with it a little bit more and seeing if it can be that reliable eye on your home when you're unable to watch it and that hub allowing you to have a more broadly connected smart home with the only cube at CES I'm Andrew gebhart please be sure to check out all the rest of our CES coverage at cnet not you
