PHILIPS Fidelio HTL 9100 Sound Bar detaches for surround sound
2013-01-07
hello I'm the Westway 4c now we're here
at CES 2013 taking a look at the Philips
Fidelio HT on 9100 soundbar so this may
look like an ordinary sound bar but it
has a secret weapon these bits at the
side disconnects forming two separate
wireless speakers that you can position
behind your sofa turning your ordinary
sound bar set up into a wireless
surround system as if that's not enough
you also get this wireless subwoofer for
some extra bass II punch Phillips tells
me that this is connecting over a
technology that's similar to bluetooth
but not bluetooth so crucially if you
are doing something else over Bluetooth
like using a wireless keyboard you
shouldn't get any interference which is
good news so once you detach these
speakers the sound bar will
automatically change to surround sound
mode so there's very little that you
have to do they are battery-powered
they're going to take four hours to
reach full charge and once they've got
as much juice as they can handle you'll
get 10 hours out of them so battery life
is a limiting factor but 10 hours is
quite a long time to be watching TV I
don't really think you're gonna need
much more time than that the speaker
itself pumps out 120 watts of noise and
something else that's very cool is that
if you move the speaker into a different
orientation the drivers will slide
mechanically on the inside so that you
don't lose sound quality it's coming out
in May it's gonna cost $800 under the
Westway for CNET and this is the Philips
Fidelio htl 9100 sound bar
