I'm here at the International home and
housewares show in Chicago at the
Panasonic booth where they've just
unveiled a countertop induction oven now
this is a pretty cool toaster oven sized
appliance that uses induction heat on
the bottom an infrared heat on top to
cook complete meals in 20 minutes or
less
now the countertop induction oven has a
really cool interior plate that has
different zones for cooking so it gets
hotter in the middle but cooler on the
outside so you can have a nice roast
chicken for dinner with some roasted
vegetables now what was on display today
it was a prototype but Panasonic expects
to release this product sometime in the
fall of this year for somewhere around
$600
this product has a lot of promise for
replacing microwaves and toaster ovens
especially using a type of energy that's
very efficient and a lot safer than
traditional electric or gas cooker
