Pebble unveils two new smartwatches and a wearable not meant for your wrist
2016-05-24
it's 2016 smartwatches are in a strange
place it's a crowded market so what does
a company like pebble do in smartwatches
maybe find a way off your wrist while
pebbles get a couple of brand new
SmartWatch concepts that are really nice
that are coming this year there's also a
design for an object that's not a
SmartWatch at all
we've got a bunch of new watches as well
as a completely new type of wearable
pebble core pebble core is I mean in
some ways it's a key it's a computer on
your keychain
we built it specifically for runners
that's the primary use we've got extreme
Spotify it tracks your run using GPS and
you can program the buttons to call an
emergency ooh BRR send a text with your
current location that's the primary use
of it but it also pairs with a pebble if
you wanted to exactly so if you have a
pebble that's even better you can
control your music using the pebble you
can see your distance your speed your
pace and all the apps on pebble that use
Internet can be kind of accessed through
through the core there there are two new
pebble watch so that's nice the upgrade
from the original pebble that we
launched three three years ago
so he's like these now have heart rate
monitors on them and these track your
activity all day long
yep so they tracked your heart rate on
10-minute intervals throughout the day
they also work in continuous mode when
you go for a run or when you go for a
bike ride or you're hiking
time to features a much larger screen
it's it's now picked it takes up almost
the entire front face of the watch it's
built into the same size as the original
pebble time it's crafted from stainless
steel with a new optical heart ring to
monitor on the back even though it has
the new screen and the new heartrate
monitor the battery life is still up to
10 days on this one I want to ask you
about smart straps all of these can work
with smart straps we've heard about
smart straps last year we haven't seen a
lot of smart straps let me know so smart
Rises the concept when we announced that
last year they're just coming out the
first smart straps are hitting the
market there's a payment smart strap
that's gonna be available in about a
month or two it's called Pagar a it lets
you type your day with your pebble okay
there's a gps smart strap that launched
just a couple weeks ago there's an
extended battery strap yeah it's it's
coming along there's another area beyond
beyond watches and and the core that you
think you'd want to start branching into
but I see a future where at some point
you're gonna have multiple wearables
that all talk to each other that connect
through the internet and help you just
live a little bit more of a good life
