Philips Screeneo HDP1590: Big-screen ambitions, small returns
2014-04-11
though it may look a bit like a laser
printer this little gadget here is
actually an ultra short throw projector
it's capable of producing an image up to
a hundred inches from only a few feet
away hi I'm Ty Pendlebury and today I'm
looking at the Philips screen er
projector this little projector is
designed to replace a television and has
the added advantage of being portable
for impromptu movies in your backyard
for example unusually the projector is
driven by an Android operating system
which means you can theoretically load
new apps on it but in practice is quite
difficult to do the other features
include bluetooth streaming miracast
mirroring from a foreign and some decent
onboard speakers the problem is image
quality of this projector isn't very
good and that's a shame for a gadget
that's almost 2,000 bucks colors are way
oversaturated and they can't be fixed
black levels are poor and the image is
just way too dim on the plus side the
really short throw and super low latency
means this could be an option for gamers
though the connector may not be able to
see you if you use it in the dark as a
conversation piece though it's pretty
great and it's not as if the screen you
know has video file pretensions it's
just that for a fun family-oriented
machine it's about $1,000 to expensive
