Polk's MagniFi Mini looks small sounds big

2016-11-19
the latest trend in home theater is for Micro sound bars speakers that you sit in front of a TV that are about a foot long and the best we've seen so far is the pulk magnifying mini this is a $300 unit which comes with a separate wireless subwoofer it's great for movies with a wide open sound and plenty of low-end muscle the sambar has plenty of connectivity options including an ACMA IRC port for connecting to a smart TV in addition there's an optical port for hooking up to a set-top box or blu-ray player plus an auxilary analog input you also get bluetooth USB and Wi-Fi the last option lets you connect up to google cast which means you can use the sound bar as part of a multi-room system you can custom your phone to the sound bar using cast enabled apps like Spotify or Pandora be aware that you need to use the Google home app on Android or iOS to set up your system in the first place but for some reason Wi-Fi wouldn't work properly for us so we needed to connect an ethernet cable but from then on it worked fine the pulp comes with a dedicated music mode you can find it on the ergonomic remote and the sound bar plays music very well a three hundred bucks is only a couple of sound bars we'd consider worth the money and the magnify mini is definitely one of them especially if you're looking for something smaller
