'Prosthetic Reality' book brings augmented reality to art

a new book melds art without materiality
the definition of art is constantly
changing because creative people push
the envelope a book called prosthetic
reality is bringing augmented reality
into the world of art sue 2 also known
as Stu Campbell is behind prosthetic
reality it brings together works by 45
artists from around the world the real
magic happens when the book is viewed
through a free app called I Jack after
downloading a 175 megabyte pack the app
brings the drawings to life complete
with sound effects Campbell says the
collection is diverse ranging from
hand-drawn illustrations to technical 3d
animations to powerful political
narrative art from the book is also on
display at the no vacancy gallery in
Federation Square in Melbourne Australia
until February 12th the exhibit will
travel to Sydney in March
Campbell envisions a future where
wearables make such augmented reality
art more seamless than waving a phone
over a book parents if the concept looks
familiar you might have seen something
