Pebble recently announced a new version
of its popular SmartWatch the pebble
steel shares the same internals as their
original but it features a slimmer
stronger and more attractive design
which more closely resembles a
traditional watch at $250 though it
doesn't come cheap especially if you
have the original pebble but did you
know there's a way to transform this
watch into a more stylish one I'm dan
Graziano and I'm going to show you how
to replace the band on your original
pebble you will need two things to get
the job done the first is this tool a
spring bar tool this will run you about
seven bucks on Amazon the second is a
new watch band you can opt for one with
a leather fabric or even a steel strap I
chose a basic white one to go with my
white pebble either way the method is
the same just be sure it's a 22
millimeter band the strap is held in
place with a spring bar in a well-lit
area take the tool and carefully slide
it in between the watch and the strap
when you make contact with the spring
move the tool away from the edge of the
watch and dislodge the spring from its
socket
once the spring is out do the exact same
thing with the other side both Springs
should pop out pretty easily next
carefully remove the spring bars from
each strap and insert them into the new
bands getting the new band into place
can be tricky I found the easiest way to
do this is to place one side of the
spring in the socket and use the tool to
snap the other side into place it may
take a few tries but once complete your
pebble will be more personal and unique
for more detailed instructions and a
link to the specific tool I use check
out my article on how to cnet.com you
can also reach out to me on Twitter and
share how you customize your pebble I'm
