Ring's solar-powered Stick Up Cam could do so much more

the best thing about rings 199 dollars
stick up cam is that it's a very
versatile outdoor camera so not only can
you rely on the rechargeable internal
battery to power it it also comes with a
power adapter if you want it to be
tethered for continuous power or you can
rely on the $49 add-on solar panel that
you can attach separately so that's all
the good stuff about this camera now
let's get into what I didn't like so
upfront you have to pay three dollars
per month or $30 per year for event
based cloud storage most models nowadays
offer a free option so you don't have to
pay that upfront and a lot of the
security cameras that do require you to
pay a monthly fee actually allow for
continuous recording so you're not just
getting those motion or sound based
clips in addition the audio two-way talk
feature didn't work that well I listened
to several conversations and took part
in several where I couldn't understand
what was being said and the 720p HD live
streaming was grainy at best although
that will vary based on the quality of
your Wi-Fi and it also offers only an 80
degree field of view which is much less
than a lot of the competition so
unfortunately I wouldn't recommend this
model over some of the competition
because it just doesn't do as much
