in San Francisco just miles from the
heart of Silicon Valley members of the
tech community gathered to rally against
two national bills the Stop Online
Piracy Act or SOPA and PIPA that protect
intellectual property act information
needs to be free we don't want this bill
fixed we want it stopped we don't want
censorship and this leads to a form of
censorship just to be clear we're not
fans of piracy at all but we are fans of
just the freedom of information across
the country in New York the scene was
similar as protestors gathered outside
the offices of Senator Schumer and
Gillibrand to co-sponsors of pippa
online thousands of internet companies
were waging their own battles wikipedia
suspended service google provided a
direct link for people to take action
and blogging to a wordpress made the
censorship message clear there are tons
of folks out there who probably weren't
really aware of SOPA and PIPA before
today they're finding out how scary
these bills really are the messages also
struck several lawmakers and now as a
Wednesday afternoon two Republican
senators said they would rescind their
support I don't think the bills in their
current form have any hope of passing at
this point even President Obama has said
he wouldn't sign either into law CBS
Corporation the parent company of Cena
and CBS News supports the legislation
for the concern consumer there's already
a boycott SOPA app for Android phones
this free download scans barcodes and
then will tell you if the product
manufacturer is one who supports the
bill and for those who really want to
make their voices heard there's even an
anti SOPA ringtone available for a free
download in San Francisco I'm Kara
