Samsung has made some very distinctive
looking TVs this year from the gold
bezel of the es 9000 to the minimalism
of the es 7500 well it's not quite as
ostentatious as those TVs the year 6,500
is still very elegant-looking with a one
sheet of glass type design the TV sits
in the middle of Samsung's range and
includes most of the TV features you'd
expect including smart TV with onboard
wireless 3d with two pairs of glasses
and a 240 hertz mode we had great hopes
for this television as it's the
replacement of one of our favorites from
last year the D 6400 unfortunately the
6500 isn't as good as that TV but is
similar in some areas colour
reproduction is almost identical with
well saturated and natural looking
colors but it's black levels where the
es 6500 misses the mark while the TV has
very good shadow detail it lacks the
previous models black depth and so
images don't look as solid the TV also
suffers from an occasional artifact
whereby leading edges can break up into
a dark blue line the es 6500 is a decent
television but for the price there are
plenty of other lcds and even better
plasmas to consider instead for example
the sharp 645 or the Panasonic st50 I'm
ty pendlebury for cnet com
