if you remember Samsung's cheap Galaxy
j-3 from 2016 you're about to get some
serious deja vu the version of the phone
for 2017 is almost exactly the same
thing from its 5-inch screen and five
megapixel camera to the capacity of its
removable battery one difference is that
the new j-3 is up to date with Android
7.0 nougat and in captures video in
1080p definition in addition to 720p so
that's an improvement over last year it
also has a slightly faster processor and
takes a higher capacity external storage
card but and this is where things go
south it's got less memory not more and
it's battery didn't last as long in our
video dream test normally a yearly
upgrade might give you a better camera a
more detailed screen and faster speeds
for about the same price as the previous
year's model so it's disappointing to
see the j-3 tread water for 2017 that's
that the rear camera takes seasonally
clearer pictures and the updated j-3
hangs on to outdoor mode which will
blast screen brightness for 15 minutes
so you can read better in sunlight if
you're looking for the least expensive
an Android phone money can buy last
year's j-3 may save you a little coin
but Motorola's newer Moto e 4 and g5
phones give you more in the camera
department for about the same price or a
little more
