Siri, Google Now won't help if you're having a heart attack (CNET News)

Cerie and Google now are great for
finding a nearby coffee shop but a new
study says they're next to useless if
you're having a medical emergency
researchers from the Stanford
University's School of Medicine and the
University of California San Francisco
had people ask Siri Google now Cortana
and Samsung's s voice assistant a series
of health-related questions to see how
they'd respond how'd they do not so well
Siri did the best offering guidance for
people who asked about heart attacks and
suicidal thoughts Google now referred a
user to a suicide prevention helpline
but didn't understand any other requests
Cortana was the only one to help in the
event of a sexual assault but didn't
step up for anything else and Samsung's
s voice failed all of the tests doctors
say that smartphone voice assistants do
have the potential to help save lives
but they're just not ready so the next
time you need serious help you shouldn't
rely on Google now or Siri they aren't
stand-ins for 911 hotlines at least not
yet
