Six problems I have with the MacBook Pro Touch Bar
Six problems I have with the MacBook Pro Touch Bar
2017-10-27
almost a year ago I spent $3,000 for a
15-inch Apple MacBook Pro laptop it's
fast processor and beautiful screen are
good for editing photos and it's durable
chassis is great for travel but it's
flashiest new feature the touch bar is a
disaster for me this touch sensitive
strip can be programmed to do all kinds
of things but I sure miss the ho-hum row
of function keys it replaces the first
thing I noticed is that it takes longer
to adjust speaker volume and screen
brightness you have to look to see where
you're putting your fingers and then
there's a delay before the adjustment
slider pops up this slows me down
several times a day another problem the
touch bars display sucks up precious
battery power all the time and there's
no tactile feedback
there's no way to feel your way around
the keyboard to find the volume or
brightness keith and then there's the
Escape key
I used to hover my finger over it ready
to pounce when dismissing a dialog box
but with the touch bar I often dismiss
it before I actually want to but one of
my biggest gripes is that I hit the
touch bar accidentally I'll be typing a
file name to save a file or entering a
date into a web forum and I'll hit a
touch bar button that saves the file
before I'm done or that reloads the
webpage it drives me crazy
last you can't get the higher end
MacBook Pros without it if you want a
fast processor or a big screen you have
to pay for the touch bar - I'm a lot
happier with touch sensitivity I find
more useful like on an iPad or dare I
say a touchscreen Windows laptop
