2017-10-04
so nas has announced its first smart
speaker the Sonos won a 199 dollar
device designed to work with multiple
voice assistance using its onboard
microphones the one will ship in late
October 2017 with Amazon alexis support
onboard and with Google assistant Joo in
2018 users can say Alexa play song name
and choose from Amazon music Pandora
iHeartRadio or Spotify as the default
from the outside the device looks
identical to the play one which will
remain on sale but Cerner says the
speaker has been redesigned internally
only the bass and the power cable are
the same the top of the unit houses the
microphones as well as a touch sensitive
control panel for controlling volume and
playback the mics use echo cancellation
technologies to enable your voice to be
heard even when the music's blaring the
speaker is available in a choice of
white or black and like the original
speaker it can be used in stereo either
as a pair of front speakers or as
surrounds with a play bar or play bass
here at CNET we believe the original
play 1 is still the best budget Wi-Fi
speaker and if Sonos has done everything
right the one could be ready to take
over that title
