Joanie's latest action camera delivers a
4k punch to the GoPro giant I'm Lexus
Avedis for CNET reviewing the sony
action cam X 1000 V like all of Sony's
previous action cams this model features
a shotgun style design and a 170 degree
lens to capture all your thrills and
spills the camera comes with a case that
is waterproof to 10 meters or 33 feet
the camera itself is also flattering and
if you want to use the camera underwater
be aware that water droplets cling to
the front of the curved waterproof case
which can be quite annoying the
companion app gives you full control
over recording letting you change
setting with frame rates and even review
images and video right on your
smartphone screen you can also tweak
exposure compensation and white balance
which is a nice addition the camera has
a stereo mic and around the side a
screen and a couple of buttons to
navigate between menu options as I
mentioned the X 1000 V can shoot in 4k
using Sony's own X a VCS codec plus you
also get recording at 100 megabits per
second now if you're thinking that the
GoPro can also record in 4k you're
probably wondering why would you get the
Sony well the sony comes with image
stabilization when you're shooting at
1080p a feature that the gopro relaxed
now this is particularly useful if
you're shooting in bumpy situations the
X 1000 V is an impressive little camera
and the video quality especially at 4k
is crisp and smooth still image quality
is also great the action cam is
available for 499 US dollars three
hundred and fifty nine pounds or 599
Australian dollars you can check out the
full review of the X 1000 V over at
