hey there i'm josh goldman with CNET and
this is a quick look at the sony
cybershot HX 300 compact camera that's
all about big specs now the most
important being its 50x zoom lens that
goes from 24 millimetres to 1,200
millimetres which is a lot of range and
currently only matched by canons SX 50
HS and Fuji films SL 1000 on top of that
the camera has a 20 megapixel BSI CMOS
sensor and a 3-inch 921 K dot high
resolution tilting LCD now what you
won't find are more advanced options
like raw capture or a hot shoe for an
external flash or a jack for an external
mic it is loaded with shooting modes
though including full manual and semi
manual options and lots of other modes
to experiment with photo quality while
very good is still that of a
point-and-shoot so don't expect that 20
megapixel resolution to translate to
digital SLR quality photos same goes for
its shooting performance because while
it's pretty fast to focus and shoot
depending on your settings the camera
can end up taking a couple seconds to
process your shot before you're able to
shoot again that said if you liked the
idea of walking around with a small
telescope attached to a camera this
isn't a bad way to go I'm Josh Goldman
and that's the sony cybershot HX 300
