Sony RX100 V: Come for the insane burst, stay for the speedy autofocus
Sony RX100 V: Come for the insane burst, stay for the speedy autofocus
2016-10-07
Sony's addition to its rx100 series of
enthusiasts compacts gets the mark-5
designation and while there aren't a lot
of changes there's one huge leap forward
it gets the companies fast hybrid
autofocus system the one used by Sony's
higher end cameras it also claims a 24
frame per second continuous shooting
speed with autofocus and auto exposure
but for most people the 10 frame per
second middle speed will be more than
enough
although shooting at the highest burst
rate it makes the rx100 v feel like the
world's most expensive gift generator
unfortunately while it lets you run long
bursts it's frustratingly not fast
enough at writing those bursts or the
longer high frame rate video to the card
the autofocus works really well at least
for the type of shooting we got to do
during the Sony setup event lots of
action but not a lot of it's speeding
through the frame it's really a reason
to choose the v over the mark for though
