while it wandered into the darkness for
a while there Sony's home theater lineup
is stronger than ever
and its latest mid-range models offer
excellent performance and features for
the money hi I'm Ty Pendlebury and the
STR DN 850 is a little bit cheaper than
the DN 1050 but in essence you're not
paying for features you probably won't
use the DNA 50 is a 95 watt receiver
which offers seven channels plus two
subwoofer outputs it has bluetooth
streaming with optics plus integrated
Wi-Fi and streaming apps including
Spotify connect and Pandora you also get
Apple AirPlay and DLNA support too as
it's only $70 difference to the Dan 1050
what is missing firstly there's no 4k
upscaling though there is pass-through
pluses no zone 2 outputs if you do want
to power speakers in the second room
using the same receiver it's worth the
little bit of extra money for the D and
1050 the cheaper dn8 50 also lacks the
component video inputs on the more
expensive model though there is a slight
difference in the power figures the DN
850 is equally as competent as the more
expensive model for both home cinema and
musical tasks you won't find is capable
of surround receiver for sound quality
for anywhere near this price throwing a
solid menu system and a stripped back
firmly remote and the DN 850 is great
value for money this has been ty
