hi i'm ty pendlebury from cnet com and
this is a review of the sony w 802 TV
sony has a reputation for great
televisions but in recent years it's
picture quality in the mid range has
been slipping in comparison to
competition like Toshiba and Samsung the
w80 2 is a mid to high range TV and is a
replacement for last year's average
hx750 the biggest improvement over last
year's TV is the use of dynamic LED
frame dimming styling has also received
an update with a much thinner bezel and
an interesting-looking quartz cut edge
meanwhile the remote control is the
tried and trusted candy bar with
logically arranged buttons and a netflix
shortcut also changed is the menu system
which is now stacked vertically instead
of the old horizontal cross media bar
but some of the new animations do slow
navigation down a little bit the new
features for 2013 are passive 3d so you
can now use cheaper glasses miracast
streaming and at the time of the review
a four year subscription to both netflix
and hulu plus with the new frame dimming
feature the TV sits in the middle of
price comparable models for black levels
and it is a big improvement on last
year's hx750 colors aren't as good as
the other tvs i tested with less
saturation in both skin tones and greens
and blues the more expensive sony w 900
is much better for color 3d is very good
though with zero crosstalk but
substantial interlacing or alternating
black lines as you can expect from
passive technology while it would still
say get the six hundred dollar cheaper
Panasonic st60 plasma this Sony is an
improvement on last year's TV and an
okay bye if you must have an LCD this
has been ty pendlebury for senior
you
