I respect a phone that can stand up for itself as both of Sony's new phones for fall do Xperia sexy XE is the rock star of the - it's got a unibody metal build surrounding a 5.2 inch screen it's also water-resistant and comes in three color meanwhile the seriously pocketable xperia x compact has a four point six inch screen this is probably the smallest phone you can buy everything about this one is geared toward getting to a lower price which is what explains its plastic build and more modest processor but don't despair it still has plenty of storage and a good size battery here's some more good news both phones share a 23 megapixel rear camera that has a physical shutter button of its very own the camera also packs in lots of automatic and manual settings laser autofocus and additional apps besides the x/z gives you 13 megapixels for selfies and the X compact gives you 5 but here's some bad news if you live in the US you can't use the power lock button on the side as a fingerprint reader but you can do this if you live pretty much anywhere else so that might actually be good news depending on where you are you can't take out the battery but both phones let you add on more storage and use the USBC charger it's great to see Sony adopting the new standard look for the smaller cheaper x compact to arrive in September and the larger more premium XE a month after that
