SpaceX faces new setbacks after Falcon explosion (CNET Update)

the SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket exploded
during a routine test in florida on
thursday morning the blast occurred just
after 9am when spacex was test firing
its unmanned rocket at the Cape
Canaveral Air Force Station which is
near NASA's Kennedy Space Center a space
X spokesman said there were no injuries
as the launch pad was clear but the
rocket and its payload were lost in the
blast people in the area shared photos
on social media with dark clouds of
smoke filling the sky building several
miles away reportedly shook from the
blast and multiple explosions continued
for several minutes afterward the
county's Emergency Management Office
said there's no threat to the general
public from the blast the rocket was
scheduled to take off Saturday carrying
an Israeli communication satellite this
is a rough setback for elon musk SpaceX
the company was already behind in its
missions after a launch explosion from
last summer SpaceX has been shipping
supplies to the space station for NASA
but it's also working on a capsule to
carry US astronauts next year I'm
