Tech Minute - Three things to know about owning a drone
2015-11-04
if you own a drone the first thing to
know is that you can't fly them
everywhere here are the basics drones
have to fly below 400 feet you have to
be able to see it at all times and they
should stay at least five miles away
from airports and out of national parks
some drone makers like DJ I build in a
GPS technology that automatically keeps
your drone out of these no-fly zones but
if yours doesn't do that there are maps
available on the web you'll also have to
register your drone the US Department of
Transportation will soon require that
drone owners file their ownership in a
national registry details and guidelines
on how you can do that will become
available at the end of november and
finally it's not always a good time to
fly drones are lightweight and don't
have a ton of power so in most cases you
should only fire drone when the
conditions are clear and the wind is
calm in San Francisco I'm Sharon Profis
