hi this is Brian Bennett for cnet.com
and today we're taking a first look at
the Sony Xperia ion for 9999 on AT&T
this Android smartphone is handsomely
styled runs a 1.5 gigahertz dual-core
Qualcomm processor and packs a 12
megapixel camera it also is the first
Sony handset to connect to a tts fast 4G
LTE data network on front is a 4.6 inch
720p resolution LCD screen a 720p
resolution front facing camera sits
above that below our capacitive buttons
for the four major Android 30
gingerbread controls that's right I said
gingerbread sadly the Xperia ion unlike
modern Android phones doesn't run
Android for dough ice cream sandwich
sony has tweaked stock Android though to
be more ICS like for instance there are
customizable shortcuts on the lock
screen and you can create folders by
dragging app icons on top of each other
on the top edge is a 3.5 millimeter
headphone jack the right side holds
power button volume rocker and dedicated
shutter button that will wake the phone
from sleep and launch the camera
function an ability not many handsets
have the left side houses a flap which
covers both the micro USB port and HDMI
connection for connecting the Xperia ion
to HD TVs near-field communication
technology or NFC is also on board which
allows information to be transferred
between compatible phones and devices
just by tapping them together I'm Brian
Bennett and this has been a first look
at the sony xperia ion be sure to check
