The Beddit tracks your sleep without a wristband

2015-08-11
it takes me on average 45 minutes to fall asleep at night I know this because for the past month I've been using a sleep tracker but it's not a Fitbit a jawbone or any type of activity tracker I've been using the bedded sleep monitor classic this $119 sensor is placed directly on top of your mattress and is able to analyze your sleep at night there's no wristband or wearable of any sort the beddit is completely wireless and connects to your Android or iOS device over Bluetooth in addition to measuring how long it takes you to fall asleep and the amount of sleep you get it can also measure your heart rate and even your breathing throughout the night but it's not perfect you have to manually enable sleep mode each night and there will be a gap in your data if you roll away from the sensor and say you get a bed to go to the bathroom if your spouse rolls onto the sensor it will continue recording data thinking she is you or you or her but if you manage to stay on the sensor the beddit is capable of delivering accurate sleep tracking an impressive amount of data each morning you were greeted with a sleep score based on how well you slept the night before things like restless sleep snoring and getting out of bed take away from this score there's even some tips and feedback to help you improve your sleep but they feel a bit too generic things like avoiding blue light from your smartphone before bed and trying to get between 7 to 8 hours of sleep just seemed like things everyone knows I was hoping for tips and coaching that was tailored for me given how much data the bed it can collect while tracking capabilities are quite impressive after a month of use I'm left unsatisfied for more information be sure to check out my full review over at cnet.com you can also reach out to me on Twitter with any questions or comments you
