The Impossible Project's first instant film camera
The Impossible Project's first instant film camera

The Impossible Project is the group
responsible for resurrecting the old
Polaroid instant film after its inventor
discontinued both the film and the
cameras project just started shipping
its first camera the $300 I won think of
it as a fuji instax for artistes the
launch event took place in the Museum of
Modern Art so historic which makes sense
given the cameras design it looks like a
piece of Modern Art which means you'll
probably love it or hate it personally
I'm not fond of the gray angular design
but the designers do face some
limitations in reinventing the camera
for instance that huge sloped back is
necessary because of the combination of
the big film pack and a mirror that
reflects the image through the lens down
to the film plane there are some modern
conveniences however including an iOS
app for changing settings which you
connect via bluetooth otherwise the
camera is completely automatic unlike
the traditional Polaroid instant camera
the battery isn't in the film pack
either and the viewfinder attaches
magnetically and folds down in addition
the ring flash around the lens doubles
as indicator lights telling you the
cameras connection status and how many
shots are left in the film back
