hello everybody its Linn law from CNET
bringing you guys the ultra rugged
Kyocera dura XT by Sprint this clamshell
phone basically looks and is designed to
withstand practically anything safe for
the apocalypse obviously it's not
designed for your everyday consumer but
rather for those working in tough
environments like field operators and
construction workers it's rubber build
keeps it steady against everyday bumps
and scratches whether accidental or
otherwise it's dust proof and shockproof
and also water resistant and can be
dunked to the meter underwater for up to
30 minutes inside you'll see the handset
is powered by a 1360 milliampere hour
battery which roughly translates to
about eight hours of reported talktime
it also has a microSD slot that's
expandable up to 32 gigabytes it has a
two-inch QVGA display along with an
external display here on the back
there's a 3.2 megapixel camera with LED
flash the Douro xt also comes with
Sprint's push-to-talk service which puts
you in direct connection with other
push-to-talk devices quickly via this
button here now being a rugged phone
there are a few things to consider one
it weighs about five point three ounces
so it's not the lightest thing on the
market - it comes with a 2.5 millimeter
headphone jack which is good for PTT
headsets and not so good for your
standard pair of headphones you probably
have at home lastly the specs are low
the camera is obviously not that stellar
but it gets the job done whether you
work in a rough environment or lead a
swashbuckling enough lifestyle to marry
a rugged phone the dura XT sticker price
goes for about 270 dollars but if you
sign a two-year contract with Sprint and
send in a mail-in rebate that will get
you down to about $70 again I'm Lynn
bringing you guys the Kyocera dura XT by
Sprint
you
