The Toshiba 9300 Series of TVs

2013-01-07
hi I'm David Katz meijer from cnet i'm here at toshiba's press event at CES 2013 behind me is the 84-inch el 9300 it's toshiba's 4k Ultra high-definition TV and 84 inch size the company is also announcing a 65 and a 58 inch member of the series meaning it's going to have a full three models of 4k Ultra high-definition TVs shipping in 2013 these models are going to come out in the summer toshiba has not announced any pricing but we do expect them to be pretty darn expensive the current 84 inch tvs from other manufacturers start around 20 grand of course we expect the smaller screen size to be a lot less than that we've been told they might be about half as much but a little bit more on pricing we haven't be able to find out yet as an ultra high-definition 4k TV this television has four times the pixels of traditional 1080p tvs that equals a lot better detail of course that detail is really difficult to see especially if you don't have special 4k content and there is no 4k content currently available of course this TV does have the ability to upconvert 1080p content to 4k so if you have standard high def it'll blow it up to those 4k pixels so she was also talking about their processing for that 4k conversion it's called ass evo processor that uses a quad plus dual core system toshiba says it really improves the picture quality of course we're going to have to see that in action to find out for ourselves other features on this set include an edge-lit backlight with local dimming said also has 240 hertz and olive toshiba's new Smart TV features which include a cloud TV server-based Smart TVs system so all told it's one of the most well featured TVs we've seen this year and one of the first 4k TVs announced at CES that's a quick look at the toshiba el 9300 series again 8465 58 inch ultra high-def 4k televisions I'm David Katz Meyer from Cena
