this is the speed X leopard Pro and it
was the most funded bike on Kickstarter
raising over 2.3 million dollars what
makes it unique is that's a smart bike
and no that doesn't mean it has an
electric motor or anything like that it
actually has GPS Bluetooth and all the
other sensors you want built directly
into the frame so there's no need for a
separate Garmin or polar flight computer
this allows the bike to measure speed
distance cadence altitude and more
there's even navigation onboard and it
supports ANT+ or connecting to a power
meter or heart rate sensor what I found
really cool was the built in rear light
which will automatically turn on when it
gets dark now the company claims you'll
get up to 40 hours of battery life
charging is done to a micro USB port on
the back and not some proprietary
charging system which is a nice perk but
all these smart features aren't
everything
this bike is just plain sexy it has
internal wiring for that clean look and
features a carbon fiber frame fork and
handlebars with a weight of just over 17
pounds as for the group set its Shimano
Integra di 2 which has electronic
shifting my only complaint about the
bike is that lacks disc brakes and while
I only spent a brief time with it
overall it seems like a pretty great
value
the leopard pro is available for
pre-order now on the speed X website for
$2,500 the company also has a cheaper
model called the leopard which has a
Shimano 105 groupset and aluminum
handlebars for 1,500 bucks for more
