Qualcomm has cooked up a new way to get
more accurate fingerprint scanning even
if your finger is covered in goop or wet
I'm just AG adult court and I'm going to
show you how this works now this is
called the Snapdragon sense IV 3d
fingerprint technology it's quite a
mouthful but what it basically means is
that the company is using ultrasonics so
that's high-frequency sound waves to get
your fingerprint that means also that
you can embed this directly into the
bottom of the device instead of having
to embed it into a button so for a very
quick demo I'm going to press the area
on the bottom of the screen and my
fingerprint or part of my fingerprint
will show up here on the right the sound
waves can actually collect quite a lot
of data about your fingerprint and what
makes it unique including the ridges on
the edge of your finger and your sweat
pores the idea is that you'll be able to
replace most of your passwords with just
your fingerprint scan and that it will
be much more secure we'll start seeing
this new kind of 3d fingerprint scanning
and devices starting in 2015 I'm Jessica
doll court for seen it you can read much
