it's been a few months since we've seen the Alcatel Idol for us but now that I've got the US version in my hands it's easy to remember what I like so far about this 5.5 inch phone first this little nubbin on the right side it's called the boom key and you can program it to do certain things like wake the phone when it's locked or open the camera when the phone is on you go into the settings to change its button instruction second do you see what I'm doing right now I'm flipping the Idol 4s over so that up is the new down and down is the new up they call this the reversible OS and it's completely optional but I like it because you can just reach for the phone without having to worry about its screen orientation identical speakers there on the top and the bottom also help keep everything consistent a third thing that stands out is the fingerprint scanner on the back which you get on this North American model here the phone has NFC so you can use the reader to unlock the phone and to buy goods with Android pay the idle fluores runs Android 6.0 and will be upgradable to android nougat in the future it'll compete really aggressively against handsets like the excellent one plus three
