TomTom's new wearables measure body composition, track trails

TomTom's showing off some new wearable
tech here at ethos 2016
there's the touch the spark 3 and the
adventurer so let's start with the touch
so this is Tom Tom's first dedicated
fitness tracker you get five days of
battery life it'll attract steps
distance calories burned sleep and your
heart rate is water resistant and it'll
handle notifications from your phone as
well it does have one secret power
though and that is that it uses bio
electrical impedance to measure your
body composition that's things like body
fat and muscle mass to do that you have
to put your finger on this little pad
down here while another scanner checks
your wrist
next up the slightly more involved spark
3 and adventurer GPS sports watches so
tom-toms made products a bit like this
before what's new here is route planning
so you'll be able to preload in up to 15
specific running or hiking routes for
instance you do that by uploading GPX
route data and then the watches will
show you where you are compared to that
route on their little screens so the
touch is the cheapest that's going to
cost 130 dollars when it goes on sale in
October
now the SPARC 3 which is also out in
October is also going to be 130 dollars
but you will pay more if you want
versions of the watch with more features
finally the adventurer it's going to
cost three hundred and fifty dollars and
again expect that in October these are
all US tapes
