hello everyone I'm Jason Parker frissina and I'll be taking a closer look at the new keyboard in iOS 8 we've had predictive text in iOS for years but Apple has lagged behind Android when it comes to giving you options for predicting your next words in iOS 8 that's no longer a problem now when you start typing the iOS 8 keyboard tries to guess your next word it does a pretty good job what's more Apple says that it will learn the way you talk to specific people so we'll give you slang words for example when you're talking to a close friend but might be a bit more proper when talking to your boss or grandma even if you don't like the new keyboard Apple has finally allowed third-party developers to create keyboards for iOS so expect to see apps like Swift key and others hit the App Store very soon that's it for a closer look at the new iOS 8 keyboard I'm Jason Parker for CNET thanks for watching
