Uber faces lawsuit by female passengers alleging rape (CNET News)

uber is facing yet another lawsuit a New
York based law firm filed a complaint
seeking class-action status on behalf of
two anonymous women and any other
writers who may have experienced sexual
assault or harassment while using the
red sharing service the company has been
hit with at least three separate
lawsuits alleging its drivers sexually
assaulted passengers multiple states
have launched investigations into over
screening process for its drivers Jeanne
M Christensen a partner at the New York
based law firm wig Durr LLP who
represents the two women in this
complaint said quote uber must make
drastic changes to prevent another
female writer from harm
unquote the lawsuit asks the court to
legally force uber to change the way it
screens drivers and be more transparent
about what it knows in regard to alleged
sexual assaults by its drivers
Christensen says more transparency lets
potential customers make an educated
decision as to whether the service is
safe enough to use this isn't the first
time Widger LLP has sued uber with
previous lawsuits ending in private
settlements when asked for comment uber
responded quote uber received this
complaint today and we are in the
process of reviewing it these
