Microsoft's new OS sticks you with edge
Microsoft unveiled a new version of
Windows 10
it's called Windows 10s and it's
supposed to be more secure since it
allows you to run apps only from the
Windows Store Microsoft posted an FAQ
about Windows 10 s take a look at this
question are there any defaults that I
cannot change on my Windows 10 s pc the
answer is yes Microsoft edge is the
default web browser on Microsoft 10 s
that seems a bit harsh right what if you
want to use another browser you are not
locked out from downloading other
browsers from the Windows Store and
browsing like normal it just means that
any link you click in other apps will
open in Microsoft edge so this is kind
of like being stuck with Safari as your
default browser on iOS Microsoft also
explained that the default search
provider in Microsoft edge and Internet
Explorer cannot be changed so if you
wanted to give edge a shot on Windows 10
s you'll be giving Bing a chance to and
you'll like it or that's what Microsoft
hopes if you're interested in the
Microsoft Surface laptop which runs
Windows 10 s but don't like this edge
Bing stuff you're not out of luck yet
Microsoft will let you upgrade your
surface laptop from Windows 10 s to
Windows 10 Pro for free until 2018 after
that it will cost $49 Windows 10 Pro
will let you install apps from wherever
and change all the default things for
