iPad bomb plot could be to blame for latest travel ban (CNET News)

a fake iPad may have been to blame in
the latest airport ban or at least be
one of the culprits on March twentieth
the US Department of Homeland Security
announced a new man prohibiting
electronics larger than a phone inside
of the cabin of a plane on flights from
several Middle Eastern countries and
North Africa enroute to the US the UK
announced a similar ban a day after but
up until now neither government had
given specifics about why the band had
been set in place a recent report in The
Guardian now revealed an alleged plot to
smuggle explosives disguised as a tablet
on a flight in this case an iPad
terrorists have hidden explosives in
their underwear shoes and water bottles
in previous attempts and attacks but it
seems that the focus in recent years has
been on technology US officials have
been investigating how terrorists can
disguise explosives as consumer
electronics since the 2016 laptop
bombing on a flight out of Somalia that
blew a hole inside of an airplane the
ban went into effect on Saturday but it
sound clear how long it will be in place
