hardware canucks CES coverage is made
possible by our partner nvidia it is
also made possible thanks to corsair
phanteks and NCIX so virtual reality is
a big thing at CES this year and EVGA
will be releasing a VR edition of the
GTX 980 TI which is an interesting
direction because oculus is not starting
to ship until May and the HTC vive is
still a few months out many are actually
speculating the release of Pascal right
in time will receive the first batch of
the oculus consumer version so we'll see
how that plays out the VR edition of the
980 TI features an HDMI port on the end
of the PCB which connects to a dedicated
hub that's mountable inside a single 5
in the quarter inch drive bay with a
single HDMI port and dual USB 3.1 ports
that connect to your motherboard via a
standard 19 pin connection this way you
can plug in your VR headset directly at
the front of your computer which is very
convenient but the consumer version of
the oculus will require four USB ports
while the HTC vive will be okay with the
two so you will still need to handle
some connections behind your computer
case but I think this is a very good
initiative by EVGA to make a VR set up a
bit more convenient let's just hope the
added premium to the price will still
keep the card in the attractive category
