Nexus 6p Spontaneous Glass Cracking?! Lets test this...

2015-11-13
so there have been rumors at the back glass of the Huawei Nexus 6p have been spontaneously cracking there were at least five people in the Reta thread who complained about it which is enough to get some attention luckily I have two Nexus 6p sitting around and the back camera glass panel is still intact so let's find out if extreme temperature fluctuations can cause the cracking I'm going to toss the black 6p in a freezer for about an hour and let it chill out the silver one is going to be heated up to about 200 degrees Fahrenheit and then abruptly cooled down with ice cubes this would be similar to leaving your phone on the dashboard of your car for a few hours during the summer and then dropping it in your snow cone the infrared thermometer I'm using will help us keep track of the temperature of the glass you can see that it went all the way to 200 degrees Fahrenheit then drop down to room temperature in less than a minute that is a hundred and thirty degree very rapid temperature fluctuation and the glass still survives let's see if burning the frozen black phone will accomplish anything looks like it's nice and chilled let's roast it my heat gun brought the phone from freezing to about 230 degrees Fahrenheit within the space of about 30 seconds that is a 200 degree temperature difference in just half a minute so why didn't the glass crack it apparently isn't an issue with temperature my theory is that when something gets manufactured not every piece is exactly the same the manufacturer gets to dictate what degree of Tolerance they will accept for their quality control apparently a few back glass pieces that were slightly on the larger side of the tolerance level escaped onto in production devices it is probably a very small percentage of glass pieces that slip through quality inspection but hopefully Google will take care of the customers that it does happen to thanks ton for watching subscribe for future durability tests and click here if you're wondering why my phones are bent in half hope see room
