okay so today we'll be unboxing the Arctic cooling freezer 7 pro Rev - so what does Rev 2 mean well for one thing it's got a black and white fan and for another thing it is compatible with Intel LGA 1156 so that means we've got support for all the latest Core i5 and core i7 processors on LGA 1156 now I like the way they've done this packaging it's like a little Darth Vader mask style thing you want to click it from the back and then you can pull out the actual heatsink itself if you can get it out there we go ok so let's have a look at the heatsink itself first so there's a bunch of accessories falling out of it so this is a three heat pipe design and they're all bent in a u you can see that the 80 millimeter fan blows air through the fins I'm actually going to turn it around for the cameraman to have a look at the back so the heat pipes carry the heat away from the CPU itself and up through the fins now then on the bottom you can see we've actually got a very very small contact area now what this means is I guess a cost reduction for Arctic cooling but B it means you're focusing all of your cooling right where the actual heat is being produced on the CPU die now the way the mounting system works you can see we've got a couple different mounting systems here the AMD one uses two screws and two little clips to go on to the the stock mounting retention bracket that's that's attached permanently here and then clip down onto the bracket that's on all am2 and am-3 motherboards now for Intel you can see we've actually got I'm just going to put this down for a minute we've got a bracket here that's compatible with LGA 775 1156 and 1366 so then we've got a bunch of leaves little plastic clips to attach the bracket to your motherboard and then you use the two screws to attach and I'm just going to pick up the fan again here to attach the fan to the bracket just like that so that's a pretty cool mounting system it's very innovative and thank you for checking out my blog on the Arctic cooling freezer 7 pro Rev 2
