2014-01-13
Linus tech tips coverage of CES 2014 is brought to you by NCI XCOM your source for great technology selection and service along with Corsair memory and Western Digital hey guys we're out here standing in front of 3d systems if you want to see their food version so that's chocolate and sugar that we've got that in another video that will either be coming up before or after this one I'm not entirely sure but this one is more just an overview about what's going on here so here they have everything from 3d printed high heels to 3d printed superheroes and action figures which is amazing the quality of detail on some of these prints are insane and 3d systems has a wide variety of printers you can choose from I do believe they're printing from a proprietary filament but that seems to be extremely common here and I know the food one is for printing from proprietary powder as well if you're thinking about getting into 3d printing game there might be some cheaper printers we've seen one form I think it was XYZ printing or something like that but then the the quality of detail that we found at 3d systems was quite high I know myself I'm not super into 3d printers yet as I haven't gotten one because they have traditionally been quite expensive but some of the Kickstarter's that have been going by and a lot of other things that have been happening have been absolutely fantastic and I'm excited to see where 3d printing is going if you haven't noticed yet I am buying a little bit of time just so that Brandon can show some of the glourious footage that we have from all around this place because Brandon and I did find ourselves getting lost happily lost in the 3d printing section seeing some of the amazing things that they have made even just in 3d systems again they had some cups they had cup holders they had they had switches and doorknobs and heels and and and action heroes and full body suits and guns fake guns plastic guns that aren't actually firing I know there's some 3d printed guns that fire that have been made but not here so much there's even there's even military applications I think it was a plane in Europe recently has 3d printed parts in it and was flown which is absolutely incredible 3d printing is going to blow up the industry very soon I believe if it hasn't already thank you for watching all of our CES content if you want to see all the rest of our CES 2014 content be sure to subscribe to Linus tech tips and as always thanks to our sponsors ncx Corsair and WD
