Linus tech tips coverage of CES 2015 is
brought to you by phantom glass visit
store dot phantom dot glass for the best
darn screen protectors out there as well
as hyperx now one of the main focus is
that the intel booth isn't strictly
speaking a product that you buy like it
intel realsense g520 take you or
anything like that it's a technology
that they want to see embedded in
devices that will enable new kinds of
functionality so what it is in essence
is a depth sensing camera technology as
well as the processing voodoo magic that
goes on behind it so they've got our
whack tenant demos here including in no
particular order some short range stuff
like one where they scan your face and
print you your very own 3d laser etched
prism block thing with your face in it
they can also capture your face and
throw it on a snowboarder for example so
we got me thrown onto a snowboarder
making a silly face it only took about I
don't know 20 30 seconds to get my face
candid boom instant avatar short range
cameras can also be used for things like
gesture control so there was one that
takes a whole bunch of different points
on your hand that allows you to make
gestures to control the game so I can
control the ship by moving my hand
around clenched a fire release to stop
firing and peace sign to fire the old
peacekeeper missile at the enemies
they've also got long-range solutions so
these are more useful for like whole
body whole body imaging so with this one
you can actually go ahead and sort of
strike a pose and they've got an array
of cameras as well as a couple of
different versions of screens here that
allow you to make a little snowman of
yourself or stand and be like a galactic
body blowing up asteroids and all kinds
of cool stuff like that and then of
course there's going to be the more well
practical stuff that most people are
going to find more useful on on a day to
day basis so for example gestures when
interacting with your PC being able to
write in the air it's all fairly early
stages right now but is an extreme
really exciting piece of technology for
the future and we had a lot of fun
hanging around at the intel booth just
playing around with all the cool dentals
leaned back and forth to move your
character down a run awesome stuff
speaking of awesome stuff I want to give
a huge shout out to our sponsors here
