Q&A Why I Never Bother to Benchmark Source Games Linus Tech Tips

so I've often been asked why I don't
benchmark source games and like tf2
they're very popular all that good stuff
the reason for it as you may or may not
be able to tell based on the FPS counter
over on the top right is that they're
simply not very demanding so the GTX 590
I've got running now while obviously a
very good video card if we're talking
about on the order of 252 up to 850
almost 900 frames per second in a given
game even something that performs only
one quarter as well is going to be well
beyond the capabilities of any modern
LCD monitor to display past that FPS
anyway so we're talking about a scenario
that just doesn't really matter I guess
it's the point I'm trying to make so
there you have it I guess for the sake
of argument here is my benchmarking of
Team Fortress 2 on the GTX 590 dual
graphics card or dual GPU graphics card
from Nvidia and as you can see that at
1080p with everything maxed out - pretty
much as max as it gets it performs very
very well randoms very very smoothly and
there are no no issues whatsoever
running this game at those kinds of
settings and that for whatever reason
I'm doing good so it's better try and
like kill something oh so long okay
