hey it's Joe from pocketnow.com
with an Android quick tip alright
today's quick tip comes from a real
world experience of mine
not long ago I went traveling just
across the state but I went through some
very very rural areas I don't even know
if girls the right word for it it was so
far out in the middle of nowhere but I
still had data coverage that's what
amazing and it was GPRS not edge or even
3G but I still had data I was still able
to get Google Maps but there might be a
time when I don't want to do that I
don't want to get gouged for data prices
while roaming somewhere else so how can
I do away with that
well androids got two ways that you can
do that first of all if you go to your
settings and I'm just on the home screen
here so we'll go to menu and settings
and wireless and networks the first
thing we can do is set airplane mode on
this is going to turn off all of the
radios in the phone if you need to save
battery that's a very good tip in and of
itself but this is also going to turn
off your phone radios so if you still
want to be able to make and take voice
calls that's probably not the best thing
for you but if if you don't care about
that you just want to be able to use
your phone as a PDA go ahead and toggle
airplane mode and you're good to go but
let's say you don't want to do that
let's come all the way down here to
mobile networks and you'll see here my
data is enabled and data roaming is on
if you don't want to roam toggle that
now when you lose coverage from your
native provider in my case t-mobile I'm
not going to date a Rome and I'm not
going to worry about any of those
roaming charges so with today's Android
quick tip I'm Joe for pocketnow.com if
